A key insurer-backed board this week said rates for workers' compensation insurance are 40 percent too low, upping the stakes in an ongoing campaign to raise rates.
The Workers Compensation Insurance Ratings Bureau said it would make an "informational filing" with the state to say that current rate are not enough to meet rising costs.
"California's workers' compensation system is at a crossroads...," Mark Sektnan, president of the Association of California Insurance Companies said today.
"Workers' compensation is generally cyclical and right now we are trending in the wrong direction.

It is too soon to write off Muammar Gaddafi, who has ruled Libya for 42 years. It is also too soon to expect the military intervention in Libya will end any time soon, with Gaddafi gone. Perhaps the West's last and best hope rests with Turkey.
